Your dentist for Invisalign in Castle Rock.Have you always wanted to have a straight smile but do not want to deal with the unattractive appearance and discomfort of traditional braces? Now, you may not have to. Invisalign has quickly become the most preferred form of orthodontics because it does not involve the use of any wires or brackets. Instead, clear plastic aligner trays are worn over the teeth to move the teeth into their proper alignment. While Invisalign is effective, it is not a suitable treatment for everyone. As a dentist for Invisalign in Castle Rock, we have the information you need to help determine if Invisalign is right for you.

How Does Invisalign Work?

Invisalign involves the use of custom-made aligner trays that are worn over the teeth. These trays are created in a series, with each tray in the series worn for about two weeks. You will wear the removable trays over your teeth for about 22 hours per day. As you progress through each tray in the series, your teeth will gradually move into the correct positions. On average, it takes about 12 months to complete the series of trays. However, depending on the severity of the alignment issues, it can require a shorter or longer treatment time. After your treatment is complete, you will need a retainer to prevent the teeth from moving back into their prior positions.

What Problems Can Invisalign Fix?

Unlike traditional metal braces, Invisalign cannot fix all orthodontic problems. For those who have severely rotated teeth, Invisalign may not work. If you have teeth that are rotated by more than 20 degrees, you will need traditional braces. In addition, if you have teeth that are tipped at an angle of more than 45 degrees or are moved sideways too far beyond the normal position, you will need metal braces to correct the issue.

Invisalign is effective for treating gaps in the teeth, however, if there are gaps in the teeth that total more than 6 mm per arch, you are not a suitable candidate for Invisalign. In addition, Invisalign cannot fix complex bite issues, such as deep overbites, open bites, and poor bites caused from skeletal issues.

However, Invisalign is very effective for treating alignment issues, such as overcrowding, overlapping, and minor gaps. To determine if Invisalign is right for you, you will need to visit your dentist in Castle Rock for a consultation.

Benefits of Invisalign

For those who are candidates for the treatment, you will benefit from a less noticeable treatment that offers added comfort and convenience. Not to mention, you will get a straighter smile in less time when compared to traditional braces. Invisalign may even help with periodontal problems.
